OII is a thirty-two year old engineering firm which specializes in two-piece
thin-wall drawn & ironed (D&I) metal can technology and manufacturing systems.
D&I technology helped transform and grow beer and beverage markets in the
1970’s-80’s through replacement of old technology packaging with a high quality
lightweight and cost-effective can. The D&I process is now almost exclusively
used for beer and beverage cans globally, but to date has had limited success in
food, aerosol and bottle cans. OII has provided these state of the art systems
and technology on a worldwide basis since 1976 and continues to serve customers
around the world who manufacture and/or use metal cans for packaging beverages,
food and aerosol products. For most of OII’s history, the company sourced
individual components of its beverage can manufacturing lines from established
industry equipment manufacturers for its customer projects, and served as the
project integrator, installer and technology transfer vehicle for many of its
customers. In 2005, and after years of pioneering advanced thin-wall
technologies and system designs and through significant investments in R&D, OII
introduced a totally new D&I system for can making, called MicroFlex™.
